Michael Moore is the Democratic nominee

AP just called it — Millbury Selectman Michael Moore has clinched the Democratic nomination for the 2nd Worcester District over Doug Belanger of Leicester. Waiting on numbers…

Daily Worcesteria, Worcester Magazine’s blog, reports:

Moore took the precincts in the towns of: Auburn, Grafton, Millbury, Shrewsbury, and Upton.

Belanger took: Worcester, Leicester

I’ll get Grafton’s numbers by morning — they finished quicker than I thought they would and the clerk’s office wasn’t answering the phone when I called in at 9 p.m.

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out in November — both Moore and the Republican, John Lebeaux, are from the same end of the district.

Edit: Yawn. Good morning! Here’s the T&G’s take on the race They put the figures at 7,619 to 6,567, with Moore winning by 53.7 percent. I’ll post the Grafton turnout after everyone wakes up in the town clerk’s office.
