Is a new high school feasible?

We all know we need to solve the space problem at Grafton Middle School and Grafton High School — heck, it’s the reason why I became the accidental Grafton blogger in the first place.

But in this economy, can we get matching state funds for a new building — even if a proposal manages to get through Town Meeting and (I’m assuming at Prop. 2 1/2 override or a debt exclusion) a special election?

  1. State matching funds for a new building are very hard to get. The state is far more interested in providing matching funds to renovate existing buildings.

  2. The only way a renovation of the Municipal Center is a viable option is if we go forward using it exclusively as a school. So where would we put the Senior Center & Town Administrators???
