Just in case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last year, there’s something pretty big happening today.

That’s right. The long election season is finally drawing to a close, and we’re picking a new president and, locally, choosing a new state senator (who is it going to be: Democrat Michael Moore of Millbury or Republican John Lebeaux of Shrewsbury?).

Polls are open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. and, no matter the precinct, in Grafton we’re all heading for the Municipal Center gym. Don’t forget to take off your political buttons before entering the building — and be nice to the poll workers, will you?

  1. Went to vote early today. It is a mob scene but don’t be scared off, it is orderly and moves fast. The first man in line had been there at 6. I got there at 6:40 and the lines were like Disney World snaking around the halls of the MC. BUT it moved fast!!! The election workers are doing a great job as usual and being nice while doing it. Gotta love that. GO VOTE! Every vote does count.

  2. Dropped the kiddie off at pre-school at 9, voted, and back by 9:30. Piece of cake. Smooth operation with tons of friendly volunteers.

  3. Confirming Michael’s experience, my hubby reports that lines at the polls were short and swift around 9:00, after dropping of our own kiddie at pre-school… a very efficient process.

Expecting very long lines today, I voted yesterday at the Town Clerk’s office by absentee ballot (I work an hour away from Grafton, so that qualifies as being out of town on election day)…

  4. Left work at 10:00 to go vote…just got back. I was in and out real quick. There was no line at all for my precinct (Prec. 1). However, precinct 4 had a pretty long line.
