Keeping kids safe on the Internet

I’m working on a writing project today, and plan to help out at Many Thanksgivings tomorrow, in case you’re wondering why the posts have been light.

In the meantime, here’s a thought: do you really know how to monitor your kids on the Internet?

The GEA will be hosting an Internet Safety Workshop on Feb 4th at the Grafton Police Station at 6:30 PM.

The workshop will feature District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.’s Community & School Outreach Program dealing with Internet safety. The workshop will include… how the internet can be a useful tool, alert you to potential dangers/risks, discuss real life examples and cases, explain the Criminal Harrasment Statute and Cyberbullying and how to keep safe on the internet.

We will also present some commerical software tools available to limit access on your computer to internet sites which are inappropriate for children, as well as monitoring tools for internet usage and chats.

You can register by emailing or call John Dowling at 508-330-8660. There’s also a handy high-tech link:

  1. Seats are limited to either 40 or 50. Looks like about 15 people have already signed up.

I’m sure it will book up fast.
