A little note in my inbox about the GEA’s Internet Safety Workshop tonight:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to provide a clarification with respect to the upcoming safety workshop (see below). The session is intended for “parents only”. The Outreach coordinator who will be presenting that night believes the information is not appropriate for all children and discussions by parents might be hindered by the presence of children.

The workshop will feature District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.’s Community & School Outreach Program dealing with Student Safety.
Topics will include: Internet/Cyber Safety, Teen Dating Violence/Healthy Relationships, Bullying/Harassment – explain the Criminal Harassment Statute and Cyberbullying, Consequences of Your Actions (an overview of laws and the criminal justice system), Discussion of real life examples/closed cases in Worcester County.

Is it just me or is bringing children to a workshop about the evils of the Internet/bullying and how to protect them kind of counterproductive?
