Turkey hunting season starts today.
According to the Grafton Land Trust, the spring hunting season for wild turkey begins on Monday, April 29 and runs through Saturday, May 25.
Turkey hunters wear full camouflage clothing and hunt from stationary positions; usually on the ground. During the spring season, hunters can hunt wild turkey from 1/2 hour before sunrise until noon.
Only male birds may be harvested during the spring wild turkey season. The one that was strutting through our yard yesterday — not this one, which I “shot” in October — reminded me of one of the raptors in “Jurassic Park,” and was about three times the size of our very intimidated beagle.

And don’t try to tell us it’s wabbit season.
